We have developed a superb programme for Transition Year students who want to study abroad in 2019/2020 at our affiliated Saint Denis International School in Loches, France. Students will only study French (at their own level) during their stay, making this Secondary School course in Loches unique. With just 30 international students and 880 French students at the school, students benefit from learning French in a fully French environment.
Loches town itself is a beautiful and calm location to study French and offers a safe environment for teenagers.
Programme details
Students attend 40 lessons a week. These will include intensive French lessons in smaller groups using interactive learning materials. Depending on the student’s progress and ability, there will eventually be a gradual integration into mainstream French classes, including science and maths, where they will learn alongside native-speaking students. The rate of this integration is dependent upon each individual’s growing ability to speak and understand French. Each week they will take a language test to help monitor their progress. They will also have access to a personal tutor, a language lab and supervised study sessions. Once they are fully integrated, they will attend 32 mainstream French classes and eight intensive French lessons within small groups and their personal tutor who will continue to monitor their progress. The excellent tutors at Saint Denis use stimulating and interactive teaching methods with a focus on allowing the student to learn at their own pace.
Students will get to experience everything that a French Boarding school has to offer. Parents can be assured that safety is paramount and everything is geared to allowing students to make friends with students and improve their French. Each student will be assessed prior to acceptance to ensure they are suitable for this environment before full confirmation is made.
Students can fly into Tours – Loire Valley Airport directly with Ryanair – we will recommend which flights to book and transfers can be added depending on the mode of transport chosen. Flights and transfers are not included in the quoted prices.
