This new and exciting course for TY students will not only see your French language skills improve in leaps and bounds but you will also gain valuable work experience in a French-speaking work environment. It is a great way to make your CV stand out!
The course comprises 15 hours a week of general French classes in the mornings followed by working for a local business or at the language school in the afternoons.
Students will need to complete an online test to establish their ability level. Those who obtain at least a B1 level or above will be asked to write their CV and cover letter in French to be presented to French businesses for work placements. There is a wide selection of sectors to choose from including museums, tourist hotels, offices, youth hostel, restaurants, industrial businesses and businesses specialised in the nautical sector. It will not be possible to always be placed in your first choice of sector.
Students below B1 level can still take this course and experience valuable work experience at the inlingua language school – carrying out roles such as reception desk work, administrative tasks, observation of English classes and assisting English teachers during lessons.
La Rochelle is a magnificent port town on the west coast of France with plenty to see and do for teenagers. With innovative public transport and lots of green spaces as well as beaches, it is an ideal location for Irish teenagers who want to study abroad and enjoy other activities such as sports and water sports. Why not learn to surf whilst you’re there or take yachting lessons? And for those who aren’t so sporty, there are plenty of interesting museums and excursions on offer. The course is offered through a high-quality language school – inlingua, which is ideally located just moments away from the sea and town centre.
Students stay in Home Stay Accommodation. Support and guidance is provided to students throughout their stay and they will benefit from a busy programme that includes 1 evening activity a week and weekend excursions.
This exclusive course provides the perfect opportunity for students to improve their French language skills as well as work experience in a French workplace.
