Improve your French language skills ahead of your LC exams and study abroad this summer in the French town of Rouen. Rouen is the capital of the beautiful and historic region of Normandy. Only 1 hr from Paris by train and famous for its art, cinema, fashion, food and culture. Rouen is the perfect location for your Leaving Cert prep course this summer. To top it all off, Rouen is close to the coast and the famous beaches of Normandy.
In Rouen, we work with the number one, award-winning French Language School in France called French in Normandy. Their teaching methods are being used all over the world to teach foreign students how to speak French.
Our LC Intensive course in Rouen starts in June. You can attend for 2, 3 or 4 weeks. There is no accompanying group leader on this course but there will be a group leader provided by the language school once the students arrive in Paris.
There are 25 hours of general French lessons and 5 hours one to one lessons per week included. The general classes are divided into different modules made up of Listening, Spoken, Grammar, Reading, Writing and Comprehension. During these lessons, the students will be mixed in with International students a variety of ages in small groups. The students will be placed in classes appropriate to their level. Students will take an online level test before they arrive and an oral level test on the first day.
In the afternoon, French in Normandy offer daily clubs:
– Grammar Fun, Theater Club, Book Club, Cinema Club.
And on a Friday, One to One Tuition is available for everyone at no extra cost however it must be booked via the school office on arrival and places are limited. To secure one to one lessons they must be booked via Stein Study prior to arrival.
The Language School organises weekend excursions to:
– Mont St Michel, WW2 Landing Beaches, Bayeux, Giverny, Etretat, Dieppe, Caen, Camembert and many more

Students stay with local families. Generally, home stay families are located a maximum of 20 minutes by public transport to/from the Language School. Single and twin rooms are available. Breakfast and Dinner are included. French in Normandy select home-stay families that understand the importance of their role in making your visit both successful and enjoyable. They will not only introduce to you to the French way of life and help you to practice the language but will also give you a taste of delicious regional dishes. Students can share a host with friends but this is not recommended. Please note that you may not be the only English speaker in the home stay. To ensure you are the only English speaker please book this with your booking representative.

You can stay for 2 weeks up to 4 weeks.
You can fly out on the Sunday before your course starts.
Students will stay In Home Stay Accommodation with a carefully chosen local family close to the language school.
You will be placed with a host family within walking distance or easy bus route distance from the schools. You will get given a local bus pass for the duration of your stay.
Having a foundation of conversational French is beneficial to students going on any of our language courses but even less advanced students will see their fluency flourish in a short space of time during this immersive experience.
Transfer between Paris airport and your accommodation is an additional fee of €130 each way and can be arranged by the language school once they know your flight details.
Students can opt to share a host family with a friend or can be placed with another student if they have travelled alone. Staying with a student who you didn’t know before your trip is a great way to widen your circle of friends while getting the chance to practice your language skills with new people.
You will need to buy lunch at the language school. All other meals are included in the cost and provided by the host family. You’ll also need money for socialising and shopping during your time away.
No flights are not included. You will need to arrange your own flights, although we are happy to advise. The closest airport is Paris.

The Classes were good, and I felt that my French improved a lot from them. The teachers are all very helpful and nice. The activities were also very enjoyable even though they were a bit disorganised sometimes. The atmosphere is really great and that added to the great experience. Overall, I had such a great time. The staff are so fun and make all the activities funny and enjoyable and really add to the great experience.
My French was not great when I came to La Rochelle but was not bad and I did not have much confidence to speak it but spending 4 weeks here it has improved written, oral and aural. The French were very patient in La Rochelle when I was trying to speak French, more then I expected and were great help when it came to try to find an English word in French. The Leaving Cert practice was also very beneficial to me as I got to correct it with a French person. The class hours and activities were amazing. I personally feel the activities got me to speak French more casually and the not like school work. My French has improved here in La Rochelle, I was very happy with my stay and would love to return.
I had the lost amazing stay in Cádiz and could not be happier with everything that I experienced while I was there! I definitely feel like my language skills have improved drastically, the organised excursions were great, all of the teachers were very helpful and up for a laugh which immediately made you eager to learn Spanish to be able to chat with them!
My Language experience was very enjoyable. Throughout the three weeks, I learned a lot of French and enjoyed the time. I thought the classes were very good, well planed and structed. Teachers were helpful and enjoy listening and work with. Overall the trip was very enjoyable and worth it.
The family I stayed with were very friendly and accommodating , the teachers were very relaxed and helpful, much more enjoyable than regular school, the trips were tiring but enjoyable and gave me the opportunity to further practice my french, I learned a lot!
We had a very good experience with Stein Study. My daughter had never really been put into a situation where she spoke French and she got a lot out of it. I would definitely recommend the course to others.
