This fully immersive and intensive German Leaving Certificate preparation course provides a fantastic study abroad experience and is perfect for fifth years preparing to sit upcoming written and oral exams. The excellent tutors at the exceptional Humboldt Institute language school in Bad Schussenried provide the highest standard of lesson plans to study abroad students from all over the world. There are 32 weekly lessons included in this Leaving Cert preparation course.
30 of these are taught in small groups which creates a personalised environment where you can learn through constant interaction with fellow classmates. During these classes, you will work to improve their overall comprehension, fluency and German vocabulary.
In the additional two private weekly lessons, there is a focus on the German Leaving certificate syllabus to fully prepare you ahead of your exams. You will work one on one with a tutor who pays attention to your individual needs and helps you achieve your learning goals.
The language school is a modern boarding school nestled between a lovely park and an extensive outdoor recreation area. The school has space for up to 300 students from around the world and boasts an impressive infrastructure that allows students to partake in a range of recreational activities during their stay. The school is a 5-minute walk from Bad Schussenried – a historic monastery town located in the beautiful hilly region between Lake Constance and the Danube and Iller rivers.

The Humboldt student residence is located in Bad Schussenried’s boarding school, the largest one in Germany.
Students can share a room here where they also attend classes.
The boarding school is located close to a park and an outdoor recreation centre.
Students have access to a wide range of fantastic facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, a climbing wall, a movie theater and a spacious garden.
All meals are provided in the on site restaurant and each room has shower and bathroom facilities.

The closest airport is Memmingen. Most of our students have to fly into Zurich or Munich airport on arrival and then depart from Memmingen. They usually arrive on a Sunday morning and leave on a Friday afternoon.
No flights are not included in the price. You will need to arrange your own flights, although we are happy to advise which flight to book.
Transfer between the airport and your school can be arranged. The prices can be found on the dates & prices page.
All meals are included in the price. You will however need money for socialising and shopping during your time away.
The school does not permit friends or even students of the same nationality to share rooms. Staying with a student who you didn’t know before your trip is a great way to widen your circle of friends while getting the chance to practice your language skills with new people. If this makes you feel uncomfortable they school has a limited amount of single rooms available for an additional cost of €100 per week.
Having a foundation of conversational German is beneficial to students going on any of our language courses but even less advanced students will see their fluency flourish in a short space of time during this immersive experience.

People in language school lovely and very eager to teach. Teachers very good. The activities such as Sailing, bowling, cinema and beach very enjoyable. Melanie my host mum was so sweet and kind and her son was so cute.

There were a lot of activities to get involved in and the French classes were very helpful.
My daughter travelled with Stein Study to Cadiz for 2 weeks last June and had a very positive experience. Nikki from Stein Study was super to deal with. She answered all my queries and was very efficient. The accommodation was close to the school and the family were very friendly. The girls ate out most nights so I would budget that in. The school was well run and any issues we had were dealt with immediately. My daughter felt her conversational Spainish improved while there. I would definitely recommend the trip but would suggest staying longer if you really want to improve you skills.
My Language experience was great. I enjoyed participating in class and the activities outside the class. I had great fun with Tony and Melaine during every activity. I feel I have improved greatly in terms of my French during the classes and also had of fun doing it. One of my favourite activities was sailing. Really enjoyed being with my host and learned some French with her as well. Overall, I had a great time in La Rochelle and really enjoyed my stay and have improved my French.
When I first arrived I had a decent understanding of French oral expression but my host family and the teachers in the school made a great effort to improve my French through various activities and different topics of conversation. We did a lot of afternoon and evening activities which always kept me occupied. At dinner in my house I was always asked about my day in French which I think was hugely effective towards improving my French.
