TY students in Ireland are increasingly looking further afield for work experience opportunities and aren’t necessarily settling for the usual run-of-the-mill work positions in their home town. To cater to this demand, Stein Study recently launched its new French and TY Work Experience course in La Rochelle, France which combines morning French lessons with afternoons work experience.

A great way to make your CV stand out!

Gaining work experience in another European country is something different to add to your CV. It shows that you have confidence and ambition. A French-speaking work environment will enhance language skills even further, providing students with the ideal opportunity to practice what they have learnt in the classroom as well as exposing them to different vocabulary and conversation practice.

What kind of work is available?

The type of work placements found for Stein Study students depends on the student’s language ability. We work closely with the language school in La Rochelle to find the right placement for each student. Students could carry out their work placements at one of the following:

  • Museums
  • Hotels
  • Offices
  • Youth Hostels
  • Restaurants
  • Industrial businesses
  • Nautical businesses
  • Language school

The course

The course is offered through a high-quality language school –  inlingua, which is ideally located just moments away from the sea and town centre. Each weekday morning, students take French classes at the language school in La Rochelle. Classes are kept small with just 10 students in a class and there is a focus on oral comprehension, conversation practice and enhancing vocabulary.

Students then carry out their work experience placements in the afternoons following their morning classes.

Students stay in Home Stay Accommodation. Support and guidance is provided to students throughout their stay and they will benefit from a busy programme that includes 1 evening activity a week and weekend excursions.

The town

La Rochelle is a magnificent port town on the west coast of France with plenty to see and do for teenagers. With innovative public transport and lots of green spaces as well as beaches, it is an ideal location for young people to study and work.

Availability

There is availability on this course from November 2019 to March 2020.   Click here for details of available dates and for further information about the TY French and Work Experience course.
