A parent’s guide to Bad Schussenried
Bad Schussenried is a historic German monastery town located in the beautiful hilly region between Lake Constance and the Danube and Iller rivers. If you’re a parent of an Irish teen, looking for a study abroad destination in Germany for your child, then consider sending them to Bad Schussenried to attend one of our 2 courses run by the top German language school – The Humboldt Institut.
The School: Humboldt Institut
The Humboldt Institut language school is a modern boarding school located on the outskirts of Bad Schussenried. The school accommodates up to 300 students from around the world and has a wonderfully friendly and sociable atmosphere. Located between a beautiful park and an extensive outdoor recreation area, there is a full range of recreational activities for students to enjoy during their stay.
The courses: LC Prep / TY Intensive
The LC Prep course will prepare your fifth-year child for their written and oral LC exams. The exceptional tutors at the Humboldt-Institut language school have created comprehensive lessons exclusively for Irish LC students. There are 30 intensive German classes and 4 private lessons with a tutor.
The TY Intensive course offers students aged 15 to 17 years old, 30 lessons per week in a personalised environment to improve fluency and conversation skills. Stimulating teaching methods are used to ensure lessons are interactive, enjoyable and fun.
Accommodation:
Students stay on campus in twin rooms with their own en-suite bathroom and a balcony. The school matches roommates with a similar age and that speak different native languages which encourages the students to only speak German to each other.
Leisure time:
Students get free time in the afternoons and evenings to enjoy the school’s facilities and attend excursions to local places of interest. For sports enthusiasts, there is a large sports hall, an indoor swimming pool with sauna, a climbing wall and indoor tennis courts. Outside there is a sports field, a lake for swimming in the summer and mountain bikes for rides through the magnificent surroundings.
For creative students, there are arts and crafts rooms as well as several workshops. Students can also relax and have fun together in the games and party rooms with table football, pool and ping-pong tables.
Excursions take place every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday to see local sights and interesting towns located in the region.
All in all, Bad Schussenried is a top quality German destination for Irish study abroad students and we receive great feedback from our students throughout the year.
