Are you a parent contemplating sending your child for a study abroad experience in 2019 or 2020? If your child is learning German at school and needs an extra boost to help them do better in their exams, then consider sending them to study at the Humboldt Institute in the pretty German town of Lindenberg.

The School: Humboldt Institut

The Humboldt Institut, Lindenberg is located on the edge of the small town of Lindenberg located just half an hour from Austria, Switzerland and Lake Constance. It forms part of the Humboldt Institut family of schools which are located across Germany and can boast being one of the largest and most experienced language schools in Germany.

The school in Lindenberg is a boarding school with 200 beds and extensive facilities including a swimming pool and sauna, sports hall, mini golf course, outdoor playing fields and lawns, a gymnasium, a climbing wall plus much more.

In the winter, the school offers skiing and snowboarding experiences for students wishing to participate and there are beautiful views of the Alps from the school.

The 3 courses: LC Prep / TY Intensive / German and Ski

The LC Prep course will prepare your fifth-year child for their written and oral LC exams. The exceptional tutors at the Humboldt-Institut language school have created comprehensive lessons exclusively for Irish LC students. There are 30 intensive German classes and 4 private lessons with a tutor.

The TY Intensive course offers students aged 15 to 17 years old, 30 lessons per week in a personalised environment to improve fluency and conversation skills. Stimulating teaching methods are used to ensure lessons are interactive, enjoyable and fun.

The German and Ski course offers students the exciting opportunity to combine their German learning experience with ski lessons. Students attend 25 lessons each week in the mornings and then 2 – 3 hours in the afternoon at ski/snowboard lessons and practice time. On Saturdays, the students go on a full-day excursion to a bigger skiing resort in the Alps.

Accommodation:

Students stay on campus in spacious and recently renovated student rooms. Shared double rooms and single rooms are available and students are provided with full board during their stay. Roommates are matched carefully and the school likes to match students of different nationalities who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age; to encourage interaction in German. Boys and girls are housed separately.

The town: Lindeberg

Lindenberg is an idyllic pretty resort town of about 12,000 people located in the foothills of the Alps. Its scenic surroundings and close proximity to the Alps and Lake Constance offer students great opportunities for excursions and recreational activities. It is a safe town with good infrastructure for students.
