Combine learning a language with a winter sports programme

Are you looking for something exciting to do during your TY but don’t want to wait for the summer months? Our German study abroad courses in Germany offer students the opportunity to improve their language skills in a beautiful winter setting with plenty of winter sports to enjoy.

The German courses are run by the prestigious Humboldt-Institut Language School in the towns of Bad Schussenried or Lindenberg. For winter sports, Lindenberg – a small town located in the scenic foothills of the Alps, is the place to go.

At the Humboldt-Institut Lindenberg, there is a range of winter sports to enjoy including skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the nearby mountains from January to March.

A skiing/snowboarding course can be booked to run alongside the language course for one to four weeks. Students attend their skiing/snowboarding courses in the afternoons following their morning German lessons and on Saturdays, they are taken to a large skiing resort in the Alps.
For those not participating in the winter sports, the school also offers a range of other recreational facilities indoors including a climbing wall, gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and sauna, art rooms and games/party rooms.

The language courses

There are two courses to choose from:

  • Leaving Cert Prep Course

Get fully prepared for your written and oral German LC exams with this immersive and highly intensive course. Includes 30 intensive German classes per week as well as 4 weekly private lessons. The course covers LC specific content for Irish students.

  • TY Intensive Course

This intensive course improves students’ language ability in a short amount of time. There are 30 lessons a week and small classes where students work interactively to improve their comprehension, vocabulary and expression.

Accommodation

Students stay on the well-equipped school campus at the Humboldt-Institut Lindenberg’s recently renovated student residences located just a ten minute walk from Lindenberg’s town centre. There are single rooms or double shared rooms.
